Spilled Hot Coffee, take a seat. The title of “Dumbest Lawsuit Ever” was just scooped up by someone new.
Someone is suing the NFL because Shedeur Sanders didn’t get picked in the first round of the draft. And, he wants $100 million. And whoever is doing it must know it’s a complete farce because the name listed as plantiff is John Doe.
Mr. Doe’s legal filing states that he’s “a dedicated fan of Colorado football”. He’s claiming that the NFL unlawfully violated all of the following: The Sherman Act, The Civil Rights Act, and Consumer Protection Laws. He is literally claiming that “the NFL’s actions and the dissemination of slanderous statements have caused severe emotional stress and trauma”.
Again, because Shedeur Sanders got picked in the 4th round, not the first.
Mr. John Doe also goes on about unfair media coverage and blah, blah, blah, everyone else’s fault, blah, blah, gimme money!
No one from the NFL has responded. Probably because they haven’t stopped laughing.
I did a search for the other craziest lawsuits of 2025. According to H&P Law Firm, they include PETA suing a photographer claiming the monkey he took pictures of owned the rights. A woman sued her 8 year old nephew for jumping into her arms for a hug which caused her to fall and break her wrist.
