Chowhound, a website that describes itself as “The Site For Cooking Nerds”, has released a list of the 15 Gas Station Chains With The Best Food according to reviewers. Casey’s General Store has made the list.
Casey’s General, which is all over the place in Nebraska, made the list for their breakfast pizza. Many friends and family have told me many times that they looooooove Casey’s Breakfast Pizza. I’ve never had one because I’m cynical. Deep inside the depths of my brain, I just can’t allow myself to believe that gas stations have restaurant quality food. Old got dogs rotating for hours under sun lamps always pop in my head. I can’t bring myself to want a pizza from the any place that also sells Slim Jims and chewing tobacco.
That said, Chowhound’s reviewers love the pizza dough. One wrote, “When I reheat leftovers in the toaster oven, the crust doesn’t get hard like other pizza places. It’s still soft and very comparable to when it’s first brought home.”
