A woman saved a bird’s life. Years later, it saved hers.
This happened a few years ago, but, it’s catching attention now. In 2017, a friend of Sandie Gillard brought her a wounded magpie that she had found on the ground. Sandie had experience nursing birds, so she spent a few months with it until it could fly off on its own. She said the magpie, which they named Jellybean, even played with her grandson. They released Jellybean who would come back to visit from time to time.
One of those visits happened 3 years later……..after Sandie accidentally fell off of her balcony, fracturing her skull on the cement, knocking her unconscious. No one else was around except for Jellybean the magpie, who Sandie had saved.
Jellybean flew to Sandie and lightly tapped her head until Sandie woke up. Her doctor said that if Sandie had stayed unconscious, she would have died. As it was, she was able to call for help and had to be airlifted to a hospital.
Call it karma or whatever. I believe that animals can love us if we love them and maybe they’re a bit smarter than we give them credit.
