A woman walked into a Long Island funeral home to pick up her grandmother’s ashes…….. 13 years after she was cremated. That’s not even the part that made me go “whuuut”. They still had the ashes…… in a tin…… in a box……… in the basement.

Apparently it’s not as crazy as you’d expect. The funeral director there talked about it with Newsweek saying that they end up holding ashes for months and years a lot more than most people realize.

The woman getting the ashes said it was because of a miscommunication in the family.

Saying you’re going to meet someone for lunch at 2 when you meant noon. That’s a miscommunication. This is the kind of thing that gets people haunted. I’d love to see that poor woman’s ghost guilt trip the family for a few years. “Oooga booga! I went through 22 hours of labor for you and you can’t even keep track of my ashes! Owwww wowww! I kept you from failing 3rd grade, but you can’t even keep track of my urn! Wooooooo-oooow!”

By the way, the funeral director posted a cute video of her getting the ashes out of the basement set to the Benson Boone Song “Sorry I’m Here For Someone Else”. Here it is.
