Giant octopus leaves bruises all over boy’s arm.

Apparently an octopus at the San Antonio Aquarium was tired of getting handled by kids and decided to start “handling” them back.

There’s an exhibit where people are allowed to interact with water critters under the keepers’ supervision. In this exhibit is a Giant Pacific octopus named Cthulhu. In this instance, this 6 year old boy was trying to pet the octopus and……… Cthulhu grabbed the kid back, started wrapping a tentacle up his arm, and wouldn’t let go. It took 3 animal handlers and ice packs to get the octopus to let go. The boy had bruises all over his arm from the fingers to his armpit.

The Aquarium released a statement saying that this could only have happened if someone held the kid over the safety wall of the tank without caretaker supervision. The mom says that’s not what happened. I’ve seen the safety barrier and how tall the kid is. He can barely reach the top of it much less reach another 2 feet over and into the water. I’m not saying she’s lying. I’m saying he must have been wearing high heels. And, just guessing here, Cthulhu probably wanted to try them on.
