A Lincoln couple is being credited for helping police locate a missing 11-year-old boy Friday morning.
Around 9 a.m. that morning, Lincoln Police asked for the public’s help in finding the boy who was last seen leaving his home near S. 2nd and ‘B’ streets on a bicycle headed to school. The alert was circulated on social media and through local news outlets.
Tony and Ailondra Nguyen happened to be at Holmes Lake when they saw a boy matching the photos and description with a bicycle. They called police immediately and stayed with him until officers arrived.
In the end, the boy was located about an hour after the alert was issued which received more than 64,000 views.
“This is just one example of how critical a role YOU play when we need help. LPD is grateful to all our followers for sharing posts when we ask for public assistance so the images of a missing person can be seen by the right person,” said LPD on social media after the boy was found. “Thank you, Nguyen family!”
