A large vertebrae bone literally fell out of the sky into my backyard a few days ago.
Jenny was on our deck when she saw something drop from the heavens in front of her and hit the grass. It didn’t fall from a tree. Just wide open, blue, and sunshine above the area.
It’s a 1.5 inch wide, thick, and heavy vertebrae bone. From what the internet tells me, a human vertebrae is a little smaller. So, yeah, a little creeped out. Not for nothing, but Jenny really dislikes birds and is often joking about how they’re going to kill us all. Was she onto something? Is this some kind of bird warning to keep quiet?
If you know anything about bones, please have a look and see if you can tell what it is. Otherwise, I’m thinking of taking it to the zoo, UNL, or a vet to see if they can figure it out.
Best guess around here is that a large raptor scavenger dropped it. Buuuuuuuuuuut, the bone was completely picked clean and dry when it dropped. I’m getting some serious Stranger Things vibes.
