Earlier this week on B Mornings with Brooke and Adam, Brooke shared about a study that showed which states have the worst roads. That study found that it was Rhode Island.
Well, Bangkok just said, “Hold my construction cone.”
A huge sinkhole suddenly opened up near Vajira Hospital and a local police station.
This wasn’t just a pothole—it was a 50-meter-deep crater that swallowed part of the street, damaged water pipes, and even pulled down power lines. One pickup truck was left hanging on the edge, looking like something out of a disaster movie.
Officials say the sinkhole was likely caused by a leaking pipe combined with heavy rain. The water eroded the soil under the road, which then collapsed into an underground subway tunnel that’s still under construction. Talk about bad timing.
The Mass Rapid Transit Authority is now investigating, and the Bangkok governor confirmed that the soil was basically sucked into the tunnel site. As a result, nearby buildings—including the hospital and police station—were evacuated for safety.
