30 paintings done by the legendary Bob Ross are going to be auctioned off soon. And, I’m surprised by how much money they’ll probably go for. Just last August, 2 that featured the usual mountains and trees stuff, sold for $114k and $95k. The other 30, which are from his Joy Of Painting Show are valued at at around $1.4 million.
I bet in a couple hundred years, Bob Ross’s happy little clouds will be in museums with pretentious people trying to explain the subversive nature of his use of oil based evergreens set against blue sky…… which is an allegory for man’s inner struggle against the tyranny of the price of cheese.
The painting are going to be auctioned to raise money to help public TV in rural communities now that federal funding has been cut. Bonhams auction house will start taking bids on November 11th.
