As Halloween gets closer, I’ll be tracking down places in Nebraska that are said to be haunted and what their stories are. Why not start right here in the middle of Star City with a 93 year old, 400 foot tall goliath………. The Nebraska State Capital.
It is said that there are times when a ghostly apparition, barely visible to the human eye, of a figure falling to their doom. Some claim to have heard screams and cries as it falls.
The stories vary. One says that there was a time when inmates were allowed to do work at the capital. One of them was hanging Christmas lights on the outside of the dome, but fell to his death. People say they’ve seen him fall and vanish right before hitting the ground. Another version claims it was a visitor who failed to heed safety warnings and fell over the railing on the spiral staircase to the dome.
There are also claims of doors shutting on their own.
