Pixl Parade, a pop culture website, decided to take on the fool’s errand of picking the 50 greatest movies ever. I say “fool’s errand” because you could come up with 100 different lists with a million takes on why and no one is ever going to agree.
That said, here are their top 5, from 5 to 1: The Lord Of The Rings Two Towers, Parasite, The Lord Of The Rings The Return Of The King, Schindler’s List, and The Godfather.
I might have put two of those in the top 10. The problem is that Pixl Parade basically threw metrics into a an all-purpose algorithm and based the movie rankings on a point system like they’re baseball stats. They earned points through box office sales, critic reviews, award nominations, and numbers they got off of IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
If it were me, Blade Runner and The Empire Strikes Back would be in the top 5. Maybe Killer Clowns From Outer Space as well. That one’s more of a judgment call.
