As we mentioned this morning on B Mornings with Brooke and Adam, Ali Truwit’s finish at the 2025 TCS New York City Marathon was nothing short of remarkable.

Just two years after surviving a shark attack that resulted in the loss of her left foot and part of her leg, Ali crossed the finish line on a prosthetic blade, surrounded by a team of 13 family and friends.

Despite the physical challenges—including having to remove and reattach her prosthetic multiple times during the race—Ali completed the marathon with determination and grace. Her team wore blue shirts representing her nonprofit, Stronger Than You Think, which raised over $220,000 during the event.

Ali’s journey from trauma to triumph includes winning two silver medals at the 2024 Paris Paralympics and founding a nonprofit that provides prosthetic limbs to women and girls, promotes water safety, and builds community for amputees.
