Behind a career high 30 points from Britt Prince, the Nebraska women’s basketball team hammered Oral Roberts, 103-58, Wednesday night at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
The sophomore guard from Elkhorn North was 13-for-18 shooting, including four-for-six from three-point range, while adding five rebounds and four assists. Petra Bozan had just four points, but led the Cornhuskers (5-0) on the glass with 10 rebounds. Eliza Maupin scored 17 off the bench for NU with a solid eight-for-11 shooting day, while Jessica Petrie contributed 10 points, driven mainly by a perfect six-for-six from the free-throw line. Jalei Oglesby tallied 14 points and Anna Trusty contributed 13 for the Eagles (2-4).
Nebraska outshot Oral Roberts, 51 percent to 37 percent, and was nearly perfect from the free-throw line, hitting 18-for-19 shots from the charity stripe. The Huskers dominated the glass, 49-27, and cashed in 17 offensive rebounds for 22 second-chance points, compared with just seven offensive rebounds for three second-chance points for the Eagles. Nebraska owned the paint as well, outscoring ORU 52-22 in the free-throiw lane.
The Huskers never trailed in the game, building a 14-3 lead through the first 5:21 of the contest. A 13-0 run by Nebraska grew the lead to 29-7 through one quarter. The Huskers led 55-23 at half and 80-36 through three quarters. Nebraska’s largest lead was 50 with 1:03 to go in the game, with the Huskers up 103-53, before the Eagles ended the game on a 5-0 mini-run.
Nebraska returns to action Monday in Niceville, Fla., at the Emerald Coast Classic against Purdue-Fort Wayne. Pregame coverage will begin at 4:30 p.m., with tipoff at 5 p.m. on KLIN and B-107.3.
