By Mark Vail Feb 16, 2026 | 5:15 AM

About 9:40 Sunday morning, LPD Officers responded to a stabbing in the 7300 block of Jacobs Creek Drive, south of 27th and Pine Lake Road.  LPD Sergeant Eric Messersmith tells KLIN News a 57-year-old man had a significant facial injury. The victim identified the attacker and said she was still inside a nearby apartment.

Messersmith says officers located the suspect, 23-year-old Ashley Sorensen, and arrested her. The victim explained he was asked to come to the apartment by an acquaintance, who is in an intimate relationship with Sorensen.

Messersmith says the acquaintance, a 27-year-old woman, asked the victim to help her because Sorensen would not leave and assaulted her. The victim said when he arrived, he told Sorensen to leave and Sorensen slashed him with a large kitchen knife, causing the injury, which was serious but not life-threatening.

Sorensen was booked for 2nd degree assault, use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, domestic assault, assault by strangulation or suffocation and trespassing.
