Behind 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists by Britt Prince, the Nebraska women’s basketball team closed the regular season with a 93-52 win over Rutgers Saturday at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Amiah Hargrove led the Cornhuskers in scoring with 18 points on an efficient 7-for-9 shooting. Jessica Petrie tallied 16, while Petra Bozan added 12. Zachara Perkins led the Scarlet Knights with 23 points, while Kaylah Ivey tallied 15 and Nene Ndiaye scored 10. The pesky Nebraska defense forced 22 Rutgers turnovers, converting them into 32 points, while the Huskers only turned it over five times, resulting in just three points.
The Scarlet Knights scored the first two points of the game, but Nebraska responded with a 9-0 run and never again trailed in the game. The Huskers led 24-16 after one quarter, 45-28 at halftime and 75-40 through three quarters.
Nebraska now prepares for the Big Ten Tournament next week in Indianapolis. Though the bracket for the Big Ten Tournament won’t be finalized until all conference games are played tomorrow, the Huskers are expected to end up as either the No. 12 or No. 13 seed, which means NU would begin play in the tournament at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
