Flags to Fly Half-Staff in Honor of Nebraska Native Solider Killed in Iran Conflict

Announced by Governor Jim Pillen Wednesday, all U.S. and Nebraska flags are to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens of Bellevue, one of six U.S. military personnel killed on Sunday as apart of Operation Epic Fury.

On Tuesday, the Department of Defense identified four people who died when an Iranian strike hit a military operations center at Port Shuaiba in Kuwait.

Tietjens, 42, was among three others slain soldiers identified: Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of Minnesota; and Sgt. Declan J. Coady, 20, of Iowa.

All soldiers were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, Des Moines, Iowa.

Gov. Pillen and the state’s congressional delegation issued statements following the announcement, expressing condolences and offering prayers for the Tietjens family. Flag are to remain at half staff effective immediately through sunset on the day of Tietjens interment.
