Lincoln Airport Supporting Unpaid TSA Workers With Meals

By Tom Stanton Mar 17, 2026 | 10:21 AM

TSA agents at the Lincoln Airport are continuing to report for duty, even as paychecks remain delayed amid the ongoing federal funding disruption.  In response to the partial government shutdown, LNK has organized a Meal Train to support TSA workers who are struggling financially.

“The Meal Train is really helping us to streamline that process and it’s just our way to let those folks know we’re thinking them ,” says Director of Strategic Marketing Rachel Barth.  ” And maybe by providing a meal that’s one less thing they have to worry about.”

Barth says Lincoln residents can help bringing a meal to the airport.  You can click here to sign up.  Barth says there are other ways travelers can support their TSA officers as they pass through the gates.  “Giving them words of encouragement, being extra flexible and kind and telling them thank you.”

Barth says because of the dedication of their 21 agents, travelers passing through Lincoln Airport may not notice any difference.  TSA employees just went through the longest government shutdown in American history late last year, not getting paid for the hours they worked until weeks after it was over.
