Have you ever heard of clouds that create a rainbow literally around themselves? The rainbow is the shape of the cloud.
It’s super rare and they usually only last a few moments, but someone finally captured it happening in Indonesia the other day. It looks like those rocks that have the rainbow colors inside of them, iris agate.
From what I’m told, these clouds create their own rainbows when small water droplets or ice crystals inside of the cloud scatter sunlight, diffracting the light into a spectrum of colors. The rainbow effect is most visible when the sun is partially blocked by something like a mountain or thicker clouds.
I put a few different videos of rainbow clouds below. It’s an amazingly beautiful natural display in the sky.
