Largest American Flag Coming to Lincoln This Sunday

By Tom Stanton May 18, 2026 | 1:00 PM

In conjunction with America’s 250th Anniversary, the largest American Flag will be unfurled in Lincoln this Sunday night.  Bill Williams with Patriotic Productions says the ceremony will be held outside the Sandhills Global Event Center.

“It’s 250 by 505 feet, weights 3,000 pounds and requires a minimum of 650 people to unfurl and raise it.”  Williams says they are looking for volunteers to grab a piece of the fabric.  “So we encourage folks to come out, city groups, church groups, employees.”

Williams says they need about 500 volunteers to show up at 6:00 p.m. for a training session. He believes there could be nearly one-thousand people who put their hands on the fabric.  From 6:30-8:30 there will be live music and entertainment, food trucks and skydivers.

At 9:00 there will be a drone show with 400 red, white and blue lights.  Williams says the flag will then be unfurled and Dr. Elizabeth Peters will sing the National Anthem and God Bless America. “I think it’s a great family opportunity for children and grandchildren and everybody that loves their country to be part of it.”
