Northern Lancaster County received a soaking overnight with some areas reporting 2-3 inches of rain in a short period of time. Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman tells KLIN News the heavy rain has flooded some roads.
“We’ve closed Rock Creek and 134th Street,” Dingman says. “We have water over the road for about a mile in either direction there.” Dingman says the USGS gauges on Rock Creek as of 7:00 a.m. Tuesday showed that it’s 13 feet and rising. She says it came up right around 10 feet in 45 minutes to an hour.
“We just want to remind everyone that it’s been a long time since we’ve had to call in for water over the road,” Dingman says. “If we have water there, we probably have water at at least another five or six locations. Just remember, turn around, don’t drown.”
Dingman says a car floats in water at right around 10 to 11 inches.
