Second Person Injured in Crash West of Lincoln Dies

By Tom Stanton Jun 3, 2026 | 3:31 PM

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office says a second person who was injured in a two vehicle crash in Emerald on Memorial Day has died.  Investigators say 62-year-old Gay Wah of Lincoln was a passenger in a Nissan Kicks that was struck by a Ford Focus at NW 84th and West ‘O’ Street.

LSO says the Ford was traveling southbound on NW 84th Street when the driver ran a stop sign. A passenger in the car, 18-year-old Ali Alasady, was ejected during the crash and taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.  Another passenger suffered serious injuries.

“The Ford Focus didn’t stop at all, didn’t hit its brakes or do anything,” says LSO Chief Deputy Ben Houchin. “It just went through at a pretty good clip of speed.” Houchin says they also believe that there’s a possibility of marijuana use by the driver of the Ford Focus.

In total, eight people were transported to area hospitals for treatment, three from the Ford Focus and five from the Nissan Kicks.
