Selling tickets to strangers for your wedding is now a thing.
There’s a site “Called Not A Wedding Crasher” where people can list and advertise their weddings or browse weddings that can be crashed for a price.
Why? Some people want to make sure seats are filled. Others just like to party at weddings. I mean, who wouldn’t do just about anything for those cream cheese mints, right?
The wedding couple gets 80% of the ticket sales. Also, people do not get the location of the wedding until the bride and groom approve them.
This sounded, well, desperate to me at first. But the more I thought about it, it’s a formal dinner with desserts, entertainment, drinks, and a chance to meet a whole lot of new people. For the newlyweds, it helps offset costs and fills for cancellations. It also helps make sure a lot of stuff doesn’t go to waste.
Although, not everyone is comfortable with this. I read about one woman who paid to be a crasher. Her husband drove her to it, but he refused to go in. He sat in the car the whole time.
The cost of tickets ranges from $25 to $75. And there are safety measures. Everyone who wants to buy a ticket is required to build a profile and be a verified user.
