By Tom Stanton Jun 9, 2026 | 8:23 AM

Lincoln Police have identified the man who was killed in a one vehicle crash near 56th and Cornhusker early Saturday morning. Investigators say it appears 59-year-old Michael Wert of Lincoln  was traveling southbound on 56th St from Fletcher when it left the west side of the roadway.

The vehicle then struck a light pole in a parking lot, causing the vehicle to flip upside down and catch fire. After LFR crews put out the fire, Wert was found dead inside the vehicle. An autopsy was conducted Monday, which led to Wert’s identity.
