Lincoln residents are being encouraged to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary by bringing their neighborhoods together. As part of the citywide America 250 celebration, Lincoln Transportation and Utilities is waiving the usual $45 block party permit fee through July 5th.
LTU’s Erika Hill says the goal is to make it easier for neighbors to gather and celebrate the nation’s milestone birthday. She says block parties have long been popular with neighborhood associations and are intended to strengthen community connections
Hill says the city is offering a variety of America 250 activities, including free pool admission on July 4th, no-cost park shelter reservations from July 1st through the 5th, America 250 Bingo, tree planting initiatives, and the annual Uncle Sam Jam celebration.
Permits are limited to residential streets and cannot be used on major traffic routes. Residents interested in organizing a block party can apply by clicking here. For more information on all America 250 activities click here.
