The Salvation Army in Lincoln is getting ready to help local students start the school year prepared. The organization’s annual back-to-school backpack distribution is coming up, and signups for families begin July 20th.
Major Kelsey-Moreno McCarter says they are collecting donations through August 5, including new backpacks, water bottles, lunch boxes, and packages of new socks. Community members can donate supplies in person or purchase items through the Salvation Army’s Amazon Wishlist.
Moreno-McCarter says every donation helps a student walk into the classroom with confidence and gives local families extra support as they prepare for the school year. The Salvation Army says donations are especially important as many families continue to face the rising costs of school supplies and other household expenses.
