Lincoln Police Find Knives, Meth Pipe On Jaywalking Man

A Lincoln man is facing multiple felony charges after an early Monday morning traffic stop escalated into a brief foot chase.  LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says an officer stopped 45-year-old Ramon Enriquez Jr. around 3:40 a.m. near North 27th and N streets after seeing him cross the road outside a marked crosswalk while wearing dark clothing.

“The pedestrian became argumentative and would not provide officers with requested information,” Thomas says.  “As officers attempted to take him into custody, he ran off, throwing his cell phone and a handgun onto the ground.”

Thomas says an officer deployed a Taser, allowing officers to take him into custody without further incident. She says a search of Enriquez found multiple knives in his pockets and a glass meth pipe with residue.

He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance and obstructing a police officer.
