Working at Broadcast House/B107.3 these past eight years have enabled me to be witness to some pretty cool events. After talking with some of the staff here at the radio station recently, we decided that maybe it might be kinda cool if I wrote about some of these experiences.
For those that don’t know, my name is Kenny Larabee, and I am the digital director here at Broadcast House. I work with Brooke, Adam, Austin, and a whole slew of other people here at 4343 O Street in Lincoln, Nebraska.
So when the Lincoln Renaissance Festival popped up, I decided to put my plan into action. I had never been to a renaissance festival, but it had always sounded like primo photo taking, so I wanted to check it out. I took a little drive out to the Cornhusker Council Outdoor Education Center on Saturday, where Adam greeted me at the gate!
Black Lips Bonny was the first show I witnessed, and I stuck around the pirate stage for Molotov Stoopid Human Tricks (that was a wise choice). From there, it was through the various shops and wares to capture more video.
Fun though it was, the heat was pretty extreme, and so jousting was cancelled for the weekend. Horses get hot too, ya know? That being said, I didn’t stick around all that long on Saturday, figuring I’d come out on Sunday to get more.
And that’s exactly what I did. The second day yielded video of sword swallowing, Bawdy Buccaneers, and axe throwing, among other attractions. The two-day festival was a lot of fun, and so I decided to put together a little highlight video.
That dude with the sword in his throat at the end? I captured some pretty good video of his routine, which is not for the squeamish (maybe I should have put this disclaimer before the last video). Audio’s not great, but that’s not exactly what I went out there for.
There were some other great shows, it’s just that this one worked pretty good for a standalone video.
