Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office Launches Speed Enforcement Campaign

By Tom Stanton Jul 27, 2026 | 8:20 AM

Drivers in Lancaster County can expect to see more deputies on patrol over the next two weeks as the sheriff’s Office joins the nationwide “Speed Catches Up With You” traffic enforcement campaign.

The selective enforcement effort begins today and runs through Saturday, Aug. 8. During the campaign, the sheriff’s office will increase the number of deputies working in marked patrol cruisers across the county.

While the emphasis will be on speeding violations, deputies will enforce all traffic laws during the mobilization. The campaign is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office and is aimed at reducing speed-related crashes and fatalities.

Overtime costs for the additional deputies are being covered through a mini-grant funded by the Highway Safety Office. The sheriff’s office is reminding motorists to obey posted speed limits, drive safely, and avoid behaviors that increase the risk of serious crashes.
