A 37-year-old Lincoln man has been arrested after police say he stabbed a man twice in the chest early Sunday morning. Lincoln Police say Samuel Deitering was arrested shortly before 9:45 p.m. Monday and booked into the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of second-degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
The investigation stems from a stabbing reported around 12:45 a.m. Sunday near West O Street. Police say a 27-year-old Lincoln man was with another man near First and M streets when an unknown man approached them. Investigators say the suspect struck the victim in the chest with a knife before leaving the area.
The victim was taken to a hospital with injuries that were considered non-life-threatening. Police say the investigation determined Deitering was the person who allegedly attacked the victim. The investigation remains ongoing.
