Lincoln police have arrested a U.S. Postal Service employee accused of stealing nearly $46,000 worth of sports trading cards. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas says officers responded to the post office at 700 ‘R’ Street just after 9:00 Saturday night for a reported larceny.
The victim told officers a package containing six high-value football and basketball cards, purchased online, had been stolen. “The package was scheduled to be delivered Saturday evening but never arrived. One of the cards was later found posted for sale on Facebook,” Thomas says.
“Online communication with the seller led to an arranged purchase around 11:15 p.m. with plain-clothed officers,” Thomas says. “They met the suspect at WarHorse Casino where
he was ultimately taken into custody.”
Police arrested 30-year-old Trenton Bogenreif. He was booked into the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking of $5,000 or more. The cards that were stolen were:
- 2025 Bowman Chrome Autographed Orange Mojo – Victor Wembanyama, valued at nearly $25,000. (The card was recovered.)
- 2025 Donruss Optic Uptown White Sparkle – Quinshon Judkins, valued at nearly $8,000. (The card was recovered.)
- 2020 Panini Absolute Kaboom – Patrick Mahomes/Tom Brady, valued at nearly $2,500.
- 2013 Cracked Ice Prizm – Drew Brees, No. 140, valued at $810.
- 2014 Chrome Sepia Refractor – Tom Brady, valued at $810.
