UBT Donates $60,000 to Lincoln Public Schools Foundation

Union Bank & Trust is donating $60,000 to the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools, including $50,000 for special education programs. The money will help purchase about 75 iPads for students who need assistive communication and adapted learning tools.

It will also expand access to Let’s Go Learn, a program that identifies students’ struggles in reading or math and provides instruction tailored to their needs. LPS Director of Special Education Dr. Mindy Roberts says the technology can help students with autism or developmental delays communicate and become more independent.

The learning program also allows students to practice academic skills at their own level and receive immediate feedback. “At UBT, we’re proud to invest in students, families, and educators who are building a stronger, more inclusive future for our community,” says UBT President and CEO Jason Muhleisen.

The bank is providing another $10,000 in unrestricted funding for the Foundation to direct toward the district’s greatest needs. Roberts says the number of LPS students with autism and developmental delays has grown over the past five years, making private donations increasingly important.

“We are so very thankful for UBT’s continued commitment to our community and our schools,” Roberts says. “Their investment opens doors to new opportunities, greater independence, and enhanced academic achievement for LPS learners.”
