Your favorite red colored snacks might be giving you stomach diseases.

A new study has found that the red dye that is in most of your favorite snacks can raise your risk of getting irritable bowel disease, Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. We’re talking Doritos to Skittles. The study found that mice who took in these red dyes developed a deficiency of healthy colon bacteria. Because of that, there were flare ups of ulcers and inflammation. One specific dye called Allura Red, also seems to cause allergy problems, immune disorders, and behavior problems in kids.

I just bought a work out supplement over the weekend. It’s Cherry Limeade flavored and is a dark red color. After I bought it, I found a notice in the small print. It said something about a warning because the state of California had found certain ingredients to be linked to cancer. I’m guessing it’s the dye.
