The Golden Raspberry Awards did the right thing again and rescinded a nomination they made. They had nominated Ryan Kiera Armstrong to the Worst Actress category for her role in the remake of “Firestarter”. But, she’s only 12 years old. After a lot of people called foul on the awards for picking on a kid, they took it back. They also released a statement that says, “Sometimes, you do things without thinking, The recent valid criticism of the choice of Armstrong as a nominee for one of our awards brought our attention to how insensitive we’ve been in this instance. As a result, we have removed Armstrong’s name from the Final Ballot that our members will cast next month. We also believe a public apology is owed Ms. Armstrong, and wish to say we regret any hurt she experienced as a result of our choices.”
Good on them. If everyone manned up when they do something wrong and just said sorry, let me make this better, I think we’d all be a lot happier. I’m looking at you Kraft for not selling the Mac and Cheese cheese powder by itself anymore.
The Razzies said they will only nominate people 18 and older from now on.
