Dairy Queen is discontinuing cherry dipped ice cream cones. It’s that cherry flavored topping that hardens once it hits the ice cream. It was always my favorite at DQ. This wouldn’t be so disappointing if Magic Shell came in cherry flavor, but it never has. Although, I did track down Phillips Cherry Cone Coat on Amazon. It appears to be similar to Dairy Queen. However, it comes in 96 ounce cans for $50. Instead of that, I looked up how to make Magic Shell at home. I was blown away by how easy it is. It basically comes down to 2 ingredients: chocolate or whatever flavor of baking chips you like and coconut oil. Maybe some salt. Mix ‘em. Melt ‘em. Cool. Then pour on ice cream. This can be used to make your own Klondike or Magnum bars.
By the way, DQ released a statement saying that they often rotate their shell flavors and that cherry could be back in the future.
