Frances is 14 and an epilepsy patient who loves to read and swim. Her parents are Rachel and Daniel.
Frances was diagnosed with Generalized Seizure Disorder as a preschooler. From then until elementary school, she would have two to five seizures a year. Once middle school began, her seizures became more frequent. Frances would have prolonged episodes every three weeks.
At the advice of their neurologist, Dr. Mary Rickard, the family enrolled Frances in a video EEG study in June of 2022. The results of that study changed their lives for the better. They were transferred to the care of Dr. Sookyong Koh, an epileptologist. They also changed the combination of Frances’s medication to keep seizures at bay.
When Frances begins high school in August she will be seizure-free for more than a year! The family is so grateful for the care Frances received from all of the neuro staff at Children’s, especially from Dr. Rickard and Dr. Koh.
