If you’ve been thinking about a career in law enforcement the Nebraska State Patrol is now hiring troopers. Applications are open this month to join NSP’s next training academy class in January. “A career of opportunity is calling for anyone ready to serve the people of Nebraska,” says Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Now is your chance to join an agency with unlimited career paths and duty stations from Omaha to Scottsbluff.”

Troopers not only patrol Nebraska’s roadways, they investigate criminal activity, fly drones, handle K9s, negotiate in crisis situations, operate on the SWAT Team, keep commercial traffic safe on the roads, fly helicopters and planes and safely handle explosives.

Troopers receive a starting salary of $62,400 annually upon graduating from the NSP Training Academy. Bilingual troopers are also eligible for a 2.5% pay increase upon graduation. “People from all backgrounds can become excellent troopers,” says Colonel Bolduc. “You bring the desire to serve and our experts at the NSP Training Academy will equip you with the skills to serve with professionalism, diligence, and honor. Join us and become a trooper to make a difference in your community and cities and towns across Nebraska.”

The next class of recruits will begin the NSP Training Academy on January 2, 2024 and are scheduled to graduate on June 14, 2024. Recruits are paid $27.46 per hour while attending the 22-week training program at the NSP Training Academy. Recruits also receive state benefits, including medical and life insurance during camp.
