An Omaha man is facing drunk driving charges after a Lancaster County Sheriff deputy found his driving erratically on I-80 west of Lincoln just before 7:00 Friday morning. Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says the vehicle went into the median, came back out and swerved across both lanes of traffic.
Houchin says the vehicle stopped near the Pleasant Dale exit and the deputy found several miniature bottles of alcohol in 39-year-old Justin Nelson’s vehicle. He says there was also a strong smell of alcohol coming from Nelson.
Houchin says Nelson had three previous DUI arrests and had a blood alcohol level of .229, nearly three times the legal limit. Houchin says it’s fortunate no one got hurt. “At that time of day it’s probably a miracle that he didn’t hit anyone else. It is very scary.”
Nelson was arrested for second aggravated driving under the influence, driving under suspension and driving without an interlock system.
