Lincoln Fire and Rescue officials says a kitchen fire inside a two unit apartment house was caused by an air fryer. LFR crews arrived Thursday afternoon to find smoke coming from the front door of the apartment near 21 and “C” Street.
Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says the flames spread to the stove, hood, the vent and the cabinets. Firefighters were able to quickly put it out. There was smoke and water damage throughout the first floor.
The damage is estimated at $15,000. A resident in each of the apartments had to be relocated by the Red Cross.
