Dolly Parton is going to be the next music superstar to have a theater event. Her new album “Rockstar” will be out November 17. On the 15th, there will be a global, first listen fan event in select theaters. It’ll feature a sneak peek at tracks and music videos AND an exclusive performance of a holiday song as well as a performance of “9 to 5”.
That’s funny, I just re-watched the movie “9 to 5” not too long ago. I hadn’t seen it since I was a little kid in the early 80s. I didn’t quite understand the sexual harassment aspect of it because I was so young, but I thought it was hilarious when they tied Dabney Coleman up to the cables so he couldn’t escape. That sounds bad, but if you’ve seen it, you understand.
Anyway, some of the proceeds from Dolly’s Rockstar theater event will go to the charity Music Will that helps out school music programs. There will be an encore show on the 16th. Looks like there will be a showing at Marcus Grand, downtown Lincoln at 7 on November 15th. Tickets appear to be $15.94 a seat. There are several showings in Omaha too. Here’s a link to find one near you and get tickets.
The new album has 30 songs with multiple guests like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Steve Perry, Sting, Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, Parton’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus and more.
