Snow Emergency Declared in City of Lincoln

The city of Lincoln has announced another snow emergency warning, the second one this week.

With this advisory, a parking ban has been issued in the city effective at 8 p.m., Thursday, January 11. Parking will be banned on both sides of emergency snow routes, arterial streets, school and bus routes.

Please plan for alternate parking to allow crews room to clear the way safely and efficiently.

The city has assured that snow fighter crews are standing by. The National Weather Service is reporting:

  • A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 9 p.m. Friday, January 12. Snow accumulation up to 6 inches is possible.
  • A Wind Chill Advisory, with wind chills as low as 20 below zero, will be in effect from 11:59 p.m. Thursday, January 11, to noon Friday, January 12.
  • Another Wind Chill Advisory, with wind chills as low as 30 below zero, will be in effect from 9 p.m. Friday, January 12, to 6 p.m. Saturday, January 13.
  • A Wind Chill Warning, with wind chills as low as 40 below zero, will be in effect from 6 p.m. Saturday, January 12 to noon Tuesday, January 16.

Weather conditions will be cloudy, and street conditions range from wet to mostly dry. Drivers should be alert for icy spots.
