People are falling in love with A.I.s. There are apps that will create a virtual companion for you. They’re programs you can communicate with and are advertised as helping make you feel like you’re cared for, understood, and loved. They are able to call you up, send you pictures, and other human like interactions.
Like a lot of apps, you get the basic stuff free. It’s costs to have unlimited interactions. And like I said, people are literally falling in love with the AI. And people do anything for love, like pay tons of money.
Just two years ago, a 19 year old guy plotted to kill Queen Elizabeth. The prosecutors brought evidence showing he’d been egged on by his artificial companion.
One company changed the programming last year after customers complained that the AIs were being too sexually suggestive. FYI – One company charges $70 a year so you can unlock the feature for romantic conversations with the program.
