Make A Difference Fair

By Jill May 1, 2024 | 6:12 PM

Each year at this time, each of us gets a letter from Mr. Eric Nelson’s class at Scott Middle School letting us know about the Make A Difference Fair. We all love that the students send us these letters and know Mr. Nelson’s students work hard on their projects for the fair to raise awareness of issues in our community that they choose to talk about, as well as raise funds to support their causes, and would love for you to check out the MAD Fair tomorrow (May 2nd) at Scott Middle School from 4:30-6pm. I want to share Max’s letter with you, with thanks to his dad, James, for making sure I got his letter.

Imagine your childhood, but instead of your regular childhood your parents abuse you your entire life. Well sadly this is really what happens to some kids in their childhood. That is why you should support the MAD fair put on by 6th graders at Scott middle school. At the MAD (Make A Difference) fair. Each 6th grader picks a topic that they think is a problem in our community and they put together a presentation to raise money to solve that problem.  I chose child abuse but many other topics will be presented also.

The MAD (Make A Difference) project is a project that the 6th graders at Scott middle school put on every year, this year it takes place on Thursday, May 2nd, from 4:30-6:00. It will be in the Scott Middle School Gym, 2200 Pine Lake Road, Lincoln, Nebraska. At the fair groups of students that have researched problems in our community will present to the community with the goal of raising money for their organization. Some examples of problems in the community that are being researched consist of, child cancer, drug or alcohol addiction, animal abuse, child abuse, and more.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. As they always say every little bit helps!
