Rivers turning orange in Alaska.

By Austin Michael May 30, 2024 | 6:55 PM

Climate change is turning rivers orange. Apparently it’s a huge Denver Bronco fan!

Seriously though, rivers that were crystal clear in untouched Alaska are now orange and can even been seen from space now. Seriously. There are satellite photos.

Permafrost is warming up and minerals from the soil are slipping out into the water systems. Besides the color change, it’s also toxic to the ecosystem including people’s drinking water. These rivers are also where a lot of fish spawn. That means the price of delicious, super yummy salmon is probably going to go up more. Or you can save a buck by fighting bears for some. As much as I like salmon, you’d do well to bet on me that fight.

Anyway, the orange is coming from an overabundance of iron. Too much iron can lead to organ failure, coma, convulsions, and death in humans.
