Movie “Trap” inspired by real life incident.

The M Night Shyamalan movie called “Trap” was inspired by a real life trap set for a bunch of crooks in 1985. First off, the movie is about a serial killer who is tricked into being at a concert with his daughter. But authorities know he’s going to be there, cut off all the exits, and are ready to catch him.

The real life incident wasn’t as smart and serious. In fact, it relied on the criminals being dumb. Us Marshalls and and Washington DC’s police tricked a bunch of fugitives into believing they’d won a contest and tickets to see the Washington Redskins play and a chance to win Superbowl tickets. They just had to show up a few hours before the game to grab their tickets. Then the cops simply waited for everyone to show up at the Washington Convention Center where they got arrested.

Female officers even showed up dressed as cheerleaders. They caught all the bad guys.

That’s almost like when when we were kids hanging out on the block. And sometimes we’d want to get rid of the younger kids who tagged along. So we’d tell them we could hear their mom calling for them. They’d take off and we’d move somewhere else.

Trap came out August 2nd.
