Coca – Cola has a new Christmas themed commercial that is all AI: the people, the polar bears, everything. Apparently people hate it. After watching it myself, I don’t hate it, but I don’t like it.
They’ve done animated commercials in the past, but you’ve always known, this was drawn by someone. This isn’t real. The new AI Coke commercial feels like…… purgatory. The people look kind of real, but not quite. It’s like it can’t decide if it wants to be animation or not. Everything moves stiffly and just seems off. There’s so much slow motion, you’d think Zach Snyder directed it, badly, like most of his movies.
My brain couldn’t get over the weirdness and because of that, none of the sound effects or music aligned with the visuals.
And it’s trying so hard to be heartfelt and emotional for the holidays. But, the weirdness just ruins it.
You can prompt AI 8,000 ways to Tuesday, but it’ll never be able to capture feelings or even representations that convey emotion.
