Olive oil is great for your heart health. I’ve been saying that for years. What I didn’t know is that olive leaves are even healthier. Most people didn’t know that until a recent studio took a look at the data. They found that the leaves contain a specific antioxidant that’s also in the oil, but in much higher levels.
And, you don’t have to eat the leaves. Instead, make tea out of them like they’ve been doing in places like Italy for years. This antioxidant called oleuropein, is said to help with lowering blood pressure, improving cholesterol, reducing weight gain, brain function, and helping with type 2 diabetes.
Besides tea, you can also use the extract from the leaves when baking bread, protein powders, and more.
Other good news is that one of the world’s largest producers of olive oil said that the price should drop by almost half within the next year. 5 years ago, I could get 3 quarts at Sam’s Club for $10. That same bottle was $32 when I checked 2 days ago. I’ll be super happy if it goes down to $15.
