You Had One Job: When Soap Isn’t Safe

You know that moment when someone had one job—and they still managed to mess it up? Well, DermaRite Industries just gave us a textbook example.

In a move that feels straight out of a corporate blooper reel, DermaRite has issued a voluntary nationwide recall of several hygiene products—including DermaKleen, DermaSarra, KleenFoam, and PeriGiene—because they were contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia, a bacteria that can cause serious infections, especially in immunocompromised individuals.

These are products meant to clean and protect your skin. And they’re contaminated with something that could send you to the hospital. You had one job, DermaRite. One job.

To be fair, the company hasn’t received any reports of adverse events yet, and they’re working with the FDA to get the word out.

But still—soap that spreads bacteria? That’s like a fire extinguisher that shoots flames.

If you’ve got any of these products lying around, check the lot numbers and expiration dates.
