Radioactive food found in Wal-Marts; recalled.

Move over E-Coli, now we have to worry about radioactive food.

The FDA says that frozen raw shrimp sold at Wal-Marts in 13 states has tested positive for Cesium-137. That’s a radioactive isotope that can cause burns, radiation sickness, and worse. It’s got a half- life of 30 years.

Although, I bet I have bottles of sauce in the back of my fridge that are older. I’m only half-joking. I’m too afraid to look.

Anyhoo, it’s the Great Value brand of frozen, raw shrimp. It originally came from Indonesia. No word on how it became radioactive, which I find kind of troublesome. We can track bacteria to a single farm, but no one’s quite sure how a bunch of shrimp suddenly became RADIOACTIVE.

I don’t think any of it was shipped to Nebraska, but………… maybe carry a Geiger counter with you from now on. That could be the next hot accessory; miniature Geiger Counters that can fit in purses. I can hear it now, “Mom, can we get a box of Sugar Snipple Cereal?”

Mom waves miniature Geiger Counter over box. “I’m sorry dear, but the rad count is way over 300 millirems. It’ll upset your tummy and melt your liver.”
