The Lincoln Track Club will be holding it’s annual Holiday Run on Sunday morning at Pioneers Park. The 5K and 1-mile race is a charity fundraiser for the Capital Humane Society. Executive Director Matt Madcharo says participants are encouraged to dress for the occasion.
“Usually folks get very festive with it, you can run with your dogs, get the dogs dressed up in holiday attire, you can dress up in holiday attire.” The 1-mile race starts at 10 a.m. followed by the 5K at 10:05.
Hot chocolate, cookies, and treats for dogs will be provided. Madcharo says this event usually generates $5,000 to $8,000 a year. “That’s going to microchip and vaccinate hundreds of animals at the shelter.”
