* WHAT…Very strong winds with periods of snow will lead to greatly reduced visibility. Occasional whiteout conditions are possible with visibility below a quarter mile. Total snow accumulations up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 65 mph.
* WHERE…Portions of southwest Iowa and east central and southeast Nebraska.
* IMPACTS…Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Slippery roads possible. Very strong winds may cause damage to trees and isolated to scattered power outages.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Saturday Afternoon Update:
For the Lincoln area, the only warning that has been issued is a ‘High Wind Warning’ from 7 am Sunday until 1 am Monday (see details below)
Forecasts indicate a strong winter weather system moving into the region beginning overnight tonight into Sunday. Snow and strong winds gusting as high as 65+ miles per hour could bring near-blizzard conditions to much of the area.
Much colder conditions are accompanying this system and will linger into Monday morning with wind chills dropping to 10 to 20 degrees below zero.
Warmer weather will follow this ‘return to winter’ as mid-week highs will be in the 70s and may reach the low 80s by the end of the week.

Early Saturday Morning:
The National Weather Service has issued a HIGH WIND WARNING for the area effective from 7 am Sunday morning through 1 am Monday morning.
In addition, rain, rain-snow mix turning to all snow is expected from late tonight into Sunday afternoon. An updated National Weather Service detailed outlook is expected this (Saturday) afternoon.

* WHAT…Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. A few gusts to 70 mph possible.
* WHERE…Portions of southwest and west central Iowa and east central, northeast, and southeast Nebraska.
* IMPACTS…Very strong winds may cause damage to trees and isolated to scattered power outages. Blowing snow will reduce visibility, down to a quarter-mile or less at times. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
Delay travel if possible. If you must travel, use caution on the roads. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs.
